Join us for a presentation by The Philanthropic Initiative’s John Tyler, Senior Philanthropic Advisor, and Jennifer Montone, Senior Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships , who will be presenting TPI’s latest survey of High Net Worth Individuals, their financial advisors, and their shared and individual perspectives on philanthropy.

To better understand the extent and dynamics of philanthropic conversations taking place between wealthy individuals and their advisors, The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) with support from DAFgiving360™, Foundation Source, and the Boston Foundation. for the third time since 2013 conducted a national study of advisors’ approaches to and high net worth clients’ expectations of these discussions.

For the second session of the day, we will have a panel discussion of experienced frontline fundraisers and advisors to talk about the practical application of our work, based on what we’ve just heard from The Philanthropic Initiative report. Our panel will share stories, techniques, and how they or their teams and colleagues navigate relationships with HNWIs & their advisors.

Dear Members, did you know that your Council gets charged for every meal we sign up for even if registrants do not show up? We are trying to be mindful of unnecessary and wasteful expenditures and would rather spend this money on educational and networking opportunities. Our theme this year, “Legacy Reflections,” embodies the enduring power of legacy giving for today and tomorrow. Given the increasing array of social, economic and political challenges within our philanthropic landscape, the planned giving community remains confident that donors will continue to provide generous support. Planned giving retains its prominent role as donors reflect upon their personal legacies as well as consider the benefits of deferred along with current giving strategies. Our conference is a destination for personal and professional growth and the authenticity necessary for our collaborative efforts with individual philanthropists, large and small, crafting charitable legacies for tomorrow. Planned Giving Day provides an understanding of various planned giving options and the necessary information to structure and implement these charitable giving strategies.

Morning Keynote Speaker

Viken Mikaelian is the Founder and CEO of PlannedGiving.com, a leading planned giving marketing platform launched in 1998 — the same year Google was founded. Over 26 years, he has worked with more than 5,000 nonprofit clients and reached tens of thousands more through publications, boot camps, webinars, and advisory work. A nationally recognized speaker and author, he has presented at more than 500 fundraising conferences and authored over 1,500 articles on planned giving and philanthropy. Viken is donating his speaking fee to the Planned Giving Council of Greater Philadelphia.

Afternoon Keynote Speaker

Tony Martignetti has been serving the needs of nonprofits since 1997. This fall he publishes his book, “Planned Giving Accelerated,” to help small- and mid-size nonprofits launch Planned Giving programs by making Planned Giving fundraising easy, accessible and affordable. He’s been quoted in the The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, and on his podcast, Tony Martignetti Nonprofit Radio.

In the Air Force, during the Reagan years, Tony controlled the keys to 10 nuclear missiles. Off duty, the keys started his Toyota. He’s done stand-up comedy and improvisation. He used to be an attorney, but he hated practicing law. For 23 years, Tony’s been devoted to Planned Giving consulting, which brings him joy and makes him smile. To honor the City of Brotherly Love and our nation’s first capital in our 250th year, Tony waived his speaking fee.

Rich Planned Giving Relationships

Tony Martignetti, the evangelist for Planned Giving, will share tips for, and stories of, rich, joyful, planned giving relationships, weaving in his stand-up comedy and improvisation.
